Office in the morning and late afternoon: It’s not always glamourous, whether it’s a random table, on a deck, or in a café. However, the last few days on Mt Ruapehu have been magic, with some amazing sunsets, blue skies some of it before the family was awake.
School holidays mean the kids come first in the middle of the day. Work for saveBOARD gets pushed to the edges, early mornings and late afternoons, laptop open on my knee catching up on emails, calls, and whatever the team needs.
It's just moving the day around so neither side loses out completely. Some mornings mean waking early to get a jump start on the day, positioning the phone to get the best reception to hotspot the laptop, whether it’s on a windowsill or leaning up against the deck.
This is what remote work is, just so happens we have amazing scenery to go with the kid juggle. It’s less glamorous than it sounds, worth every bit of it when the kids wake up and you're already done for the morning.
